Life in the Village
Coming home to O’Neal Village is like having the best of both worlds. Residents enjoy the traditional neighborhood design with a mix of homes, locally owned businesses, and amenities while being just minutes from Greenville, Greer and Spartanburg, industry, and attractions. With the ideal harmony of nature and imaginative streetscapes, it’s easy to relax, breathe in the fresh air and enjoy quiet time on your front porch or talking to neighbors during an evening walk. When you need to do more than relax, shopping and other conveniences are minutes away in this fast-growing area of Greer. O’Neal Village was intentionally designed to promote quality of life and community through green spaces and gathering areas that encourage natural gatherings and planned events.
The “Village” as residents call it, is located off South Carolina Hwy. 101 between lakes Robinson and Cunningham it has great access to major retail stores, groceries, leisure, hospitals, charming downtown Greer and is only a short distance from downtown Greenville. The Village has a strong sense of community built-in to its DNA with regular family-focused activities, events, and gatherings. A common occurrence is to see residents riding their bikes and strolling with their dogs and stopping to say hello as they pass by neighbors and friends.
The Village has a mixture of homes, townhomes, and commercial spaces. Two featured businesses are Barista Alley in the Village, House 509 Bistro & Wine Bar and the central sales office for the Village – Welcome Home Upstate. Some of the many events are summer/fall movie night, fall fireplace gatherings on the grassy knoll of Wicker Park, the annual Easter Egg hunt with the Easter Bunny on the Town Square, Trick or Treat, Christmas decoration contests, Build a Gingerbread House with Santa, Memorial and Labor Day pool parties, along with a huge July 4th fireworks display, multiple concerts, on-site food trucks, dog day at the pool, not to mention countless impromptu gatherings of neighbors at the fireplace or other community gathering spots throughout the year.
There is a real sense of community in the Village. The residents are extremely friendly and willing to help each other, and everyone is always out and about and inviting everyone to join in. To live here you became part of the family and new residents’ comment that they immediately felt a strong sense of belonging. The best description of the Village is that it feels like you are watching an old movie where all the members of the neighborhood knew each other and the children by name and everyone helped each other and were proud to be a part of the community.
